In this 1 minute video, N\H Art Consultant Eloise Cato talks briefly about the process behind this remarkable new work by Braddon Snape—along with video footage of the “action” sculpture’s construction.
Snape’s work challenges our preconceptions of what sculpture is. The objects are formed by thin pieces of steel welded together and forcefully inflated with pressurised air, resulting in an organic and fluid form. The “act” of inflation is fundamental to the integrity of the finished work—just like the inhale and exhale of each human breath.
